What we can help with
- Depression, including depression that keeps returning or has not responded to treatment
- Anxiety: generalised, panic, social and health anxiety
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Bipolar disorder and other mood disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder and other trauma-related disorders
- Adjustment to illness or loss, and the sleep problems that go with it
- ADHD in adults, assessed in two stages
If you are not sure which of these fits, that is what the assessment is for: most people arrive with a mix, and the plan is made for the whole picture, not for a single label.
How it works
Before you meet, you complete the Pre-Assessment Form at home: it saves time during the appointment and helps Dr Szigeti tailor your care from the first meeting. Return it by hand when you meet or through the encrypted upload link we send you, never by email or WhatsApp.
The assessment itself rests on two things: a one-hour clinical interview, in person in Dún Laoghaire or by secure video — your story, your health, what has been tried before and what you want from treatment, with risk and safety planning where needed — and psychometric tests, which give a baseline to measure change against. Physical causes are checked with your GP, and the diagnosis is made against the DSM-5-TR and ICD-11 criteria.
Dr Szigeti
I explain the findings clearly, whether or not a diagnosis is made. I prescribe medication when it is needed and review it carefully: optimisation where it could work better, planned reduction where it is no longer helping; and I work with your GP and with any therapist you are seeing. Every appointment, from the first to the follow-ups, is with me.
What you receive
- A treatment plan shaped around your preferences: therapy, medication, both, or tDCS, or rTMS by referral to a colleague, for depression when medication alone has not helped.
- A written summary and, with your consent, a letter to your GP after the assessment and after every medication change.
- Thirty-minute follow-ups as often as your treatment needs, and a hand-back to your GP when you are stable, if you both prefer it.
All treatment options are discussed with you before anything is prescribed or started, including their risks and benefits.
